Contrary to what it says in the scriptures, Peter was not a fisherman. He had been born into a family of fishermen, but he was not satisfied with this trade because he had a compulsory desire to be an important person. He had therefore left his family and gone to Jerusalem to seek a higher status. He had eventually come in the service of Lucifer who had him do various jobs, some of which required the use of sharp weapons and were of questionable morality. He was a sort of religious enforcer. Peter had become very impressed with Lucifer and held him in high regard. When Jesus came back to Galilee, Lucifer was told this by his master in the identity realm. However, there was no immediate cause to kill him so Lucifer sent Peter to keep an eye on Jesus.

Jesus was naturally aware of this but allowed it because the ascended masters tutoring Jesus evaluated Peter as having the potential to be turned around by Jesus. So Jesus knew that Peter was not on the same level as the other disciples, but he was hoping Peter would lock in to the true path. Peter did have an ability to recognize something special in Jesus, and Peter did have some mystical experiences as a result of following Jesus.

Peter had quite a temper and he could become violent. He also had an acute sense of status and a desire to set up a pecking order among the people following Jesus—with himself on top, naturally. This became a constant frustration for Peter, as Jesus never responded to his attempts to set up a formal rank among the disciples. To Jesus, there was only one way to evaluate people, namely based on their willingness to transcend their current level of consciousness and then the level to which they had currently risen. Peter simply could not get this, and, to be fair, he was not the only one, as this sense of rank was very important in the Jewish culture back then. Of course, rank is important in any culture dominated by the fallen beings because they always want to create a hierarchy with themselves as the undisputed leaders.

Peter’s desire to be more important than the other disciples led to many bizarre situations. I will relay just one. For a time, a boy at the age of 10 was following us. Jesus allowed this and the boy began doing various small services for anyone in the group needing it. Peter took advantage of this and almost made him his personal servant. The boy had followed us because he sensed Jesus’ light, but he was not mature enough to realize that not everyone following Jesus had the same level of consciousness as Jesus. Thus, he assumed (as did many adult people) that all of Jesus’ close disciples had a high level of Christhood. A common problem in all religious and spiritual movements: elevation by association.

One day, the boy had done a job for Peter and Peter was not satisfied with the execution of it. I came by when Peter was in the process of giving the boy a chastisement. Because I could see the red anger in Peter’s energy field, I stayed and watched. Peter worked himself up to quite a state and at one point grabbed a stick and was clearly going to beat the boy, something entirely alien to Jesus’ teachings. I quickly stepped between them and said gently: “Peter, I think he has understood your point and there is no need for violence.”

Peter looked at me, and at first he was amazed. I must interject here that I had no special status amongst the people following Jesus. They knew I had known Jesus since childhood, but neither Jesus nor I talked about our journey together and I was always in the background. I was not one of the disciples and did not participate when Jesus taught them. Instead, I was invoking light or performing other tasks to help Jesus. I was therefore not looked at as being anyone special and most of the disciples considered me an unimportant person.

Peter was, naturally, one of them, and when he saw it was me who had interfered with what he saw as his legitimate business, his surprise quickly turned to disdain. It was clear that in Peter’s mind, he was somebody and I was a nobody so I had no right to tell him what to do. His disdain quickly turned to anger, and he stepped closer to me, saying: “And just who are you to tell me what to do. I don’t recall asking for your advice, and if I want to give this boy a beating, I will do so, unless you want to take it instead.”

At this point, I focused my attention in my heart chakra and became completely neutral. There was uncompromising peace inside of me, and I looked Peter directly in the eye with no aggression but also with no submission. He was obviously confused by this, as he had expected me to either cower and withdraw or to fight back. Our eyes locked for what became one of these moments where time stood still. Peter was the one who blinked first, and he turned away from me, taking a couple of steps. Then, he quickly turned and swung the stick at me. I knew this was coming, so I was completely at peace, in my mind forming a perfect mirror, as I had learned from Jesus. This meant that as Peter was striking me, the four levels of my mind did not react to his aggression. I was not afraid and I had no desire to strike back or punish.

The result was that all of the aggressive energy Peter directed at me was reflected back to him instantly, literally knocking him to the ground before the stick hit me. Peter was shaking and lay senseless for some time. I calmly turned to the boy and asked him to help me do some menial task. Peter never referred to the incident, but from that time on, he kept a wide distance to me, and we actually never spoke again (which we had hardly done before).

I know many Christians (especially Catholics) want to keep Peter on the pedestal upon which he has been put by the Catholic church. However, this cannot be done when one is telling the real story of Jesus’ life and mission. I know some will say: “Well, what about the passage in Matthew 16 where Jesus says that Peter is the rock upon which he will build his church?” My answer is that the official interpretation of this is completely out of touch with what actually happened and what was Jesus’ intent. However, explaining this requires us to go into some subtleties that illustrate the deeper purpose of Jesus.

First of all, Jesus never, ever did or said anything that was relevant only to a specific situation or person. Everything he did or said had some wider, more universal purpose. As I said, each of the disciples represented a certain level of consciousness. Peter represented the lowest level of consciousness that was capable of responding to Jesus. Peter himself thought Jesus cared about him personally, but Jesus was completely impersonal in his dealings with people. Everything Jesus did or said relating to Peter truly was directed at all people with that level of consciousness. Jesus was well aware that his mission was not to save specific people but to give a universal teaching that could help all people qualify for salvation by transcending all lower levels of consciousness. Now, here is a question that few people bother to ask: “What did it take to be one of the early followers of Jesus?” I have met many Christians who assume that if they had been around at Jesus’ time, they would naturally have recognized him and followed him. They usually become angry when I suggest that they most likely would have rejected Jesus because their minds are as closed as were the minds of the scribes, the Pharisees and the many other people who rejected Jesus. The minds of modern Christians are closed precisely because official Christianity is exactly the same kind of religion as the Jewish religion of the time. A religion led by the fallen beings will never recognize the Living Christ.

In order to follow Jesus, one had to be willing to look outside the official doctrines. What would make a person capable of recognizing that Jesus had something special? Jesus did perform many so-called miracles where people could physically see a change, such as a lame man being able to walk again or water turned into wine. Yet even amongst people who physically experienced such miracles, only a few actually followed Jesus. What was the difference between those who recognized Jesus and those who did not? It can be summed up in one modern word: “Intuition.”

I have said that all of humankind has descended into and become blinded by duality. I have said that the duality consciousness becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy because we cannot see beyond it. And it is correct that we cannot see beyond it with the outer mind, the analytical mind. There is no analytical reasoning that does not have an opposite viewpoint, meaning you can never find a final argument. It simply is not possible to come up with a final rational argument for Jesus’ teachings, which is why modern Christians have such trouble with materialism.

I realize many religious, political and materialistic theories claim to have a final argument, but that is because the fallen beings are so good at elevating one relative viewpoint to the status of seeming absolute. How do they do this? By defining that there are certain basic conditions that one should not or cannot doubt, either because they supposedly are self-evident or have some absolute authority (based on a religious scripture, a political necessity or the laws of nature). While this gives the appearance of being a final truth, it also will be unable to explain many questions. You will not find answers to these questions until you go beyond the “final” truth.

So the people who recognized Jesus did not do so based on analytical thinking. They did so because they followed their intuition, they followed their hearts. It is true that duality blinds us, but we have been given a safety mechanism that means we can never be completely blinded by duality. That safety mechanism is the ability to read the energetic vibration of anything. What we today call intuition is (in its basic form) the ability to read energies and therefore sense that some energies are higher than others. Anyone reading this book will have continued to read to this point only because the book stirred an intuitive sense that there is something worthwhile. Anyone can center their attention on the heart center (in the center of the chest) and feel whether a certain situation or idea creates a sinking feeling or an uplifting feeling. This is intuition in its simplest form, and all people have it. We all have the potential to read vibration and therefore sense the validity of an idea in a way that is beyond rational argument and analytical thinking.

You can never lose this ability, but you can deny it and cover it over. The ultimate example of people who have done this are the fallen beings. Lucifer had completely and utterly denied his intuition. It was the only way he could have fallen in the first place and the only way he could continue to be in the fallen consciousness. His intuition clearly told him that refusing to self-transcend in his original sphere was not the highest choice. His intuition could have told him this here on earth, but he had buried it so deeply that he never noticed it.

Because the fallen beings do not have conscious intuition, they cannot read a vibration that is beyond duality. Thus, they cannot sense that something is valid, even if there is no rational argument for it (or even if there is a rational argument against it). Therefore, they have done everything possible to make all people on earth distrust, deny and bury their intuitive faculties. The last thing the fallen beings want is for people to use their intuitive faculties because the fallen beings know that if you have good intuition, you will not be fooled by any of their clearly dualistic arguments or thought systems. You may not be able to come up with a rational explanation for why you reject this fancy idea, you simply know that it does not “vibrate right.” Just look at how those who represent the fallen consciousness in today’s world (found in both materialism and official Christianity) will mock this statement.

The deeper reality is that in the design of your being is incorporated the ability for the Conscious You to step (at least partially) outside your four lower bodies and thereby sense a vibration or impulse coming from your I AM Presence or the ascended masters. When you have this frame of reference, your heart chakra can compare it to the vibration of any idea on earth. You will then experience whether the idea vibrates at a lower level than the impulse from your I AM Presence. If it does, you know “there is something rotten in Denmark.”

One goal of the fallen beings is to make all people distrust their inner guidance so they only follow some kind of external authority, or at least their rational, analytical, linear mind. The fallen beings know they can never control your intuitive prompting, and they know they are in control of all of the external authorities found on earth—every single one of them, regardless of the claims they make officially. They also know they can run circles around your rational mind.

Okay, I digressed again. The point was that all of those who recognized Jesus did so because they were using their intuition to some capacity. This goes for Peter as well. Peter did not respond only to the outer miracles, he also had some intuitive prompting, although not as clear as those of the other disciples. So now take a look at this passage from Matthew 16:

The key words are: “for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” This is a clear reference to intuition. “Flesh and blood” refers to the analytical, outer mind and the “Father” refers to the I AM Presence. So what Jesus was really saying was that Peter had some intuition and that is why he could recognize Jesus as the Living Christ. Now look at the next verse:

Again, Jesus was not here specifically talking about or to Peter. He was talking about the intuitive faculties that all people have. It is this intuitive faculty that is the rock because it gives us a firm place to stand in the turmoil of the opposing, relative claims of duality. It is also this intuition Jesus talked about in the parable about building a house on sand (the duality consciousness) and rocky ground (the Christ consciousness).

The real meaning that Jesus had in mind was that as long as his followers continued to use their intuition and get direction from the ascended realm (through himself as an ascended master), then the gates of hell (meaning the fallen beings and the duality consciousness) should not prevail against his movement (Jesus never used the word “church,” this is a deliberate addition of the fallen beings). Jesus knew full well that if his followers ever stopped using their intuition, then his movement would quickly be perverted by the fallen consciousness. Jesus also knew that those who were most likely to instigate this perversion would be the people who were at the same level of consciousness as Peter. They had enough intuition to recognize Jesus, but it was not clear enough so that they were willing to follow Jesus on the ongoing, never-ending path to Christhood.

The problem with the consciousness that Peter represented can be understood by looking at the next passage in Matthew 16:

I find it peculiar that Catholics always refer to the previous verses in order to justify that the Catholic church is built on Peter and thus represents Jesus while at the same time completely ignoring that Jesus called Peter “Satan.” The deeper reality here is that the Catholic church is based on the consciousness of Peter, but the real problem is that this church has not transcended this consciousness, even after 1700 years.

Was Jesus schizophrenic? How could he at one time call Peter the rock upon which he would build his church and then later call him Satan? The deeper reality is that Jesus used “Satan” as a general reference to a specific state of consciousness. Peter did have a genuine intuitive impulse that Jesus had a higher vibration. What he ideally could have done (and which some of the other disciples did do) was to reason that if Jesus has a higher vibration, it is because he has a higher state of consciousness. Jesus says that I too can achieve this higher consciousness, and it rings true to me. Yet how can I achieve the same consciousness as Jesus? Only by allowing Jesus to take me on a journey whereby I transcend my present state of consciousness.

If Peter had recognized this, he would have understood the main element in Jesus’ teachings, namely that in order to let go of one state of consciousness, one has to allow the self based on that state to die. Just look at the following verses in Matthew 16:

With “coming after” Jesus means attaining the state of consciousness that Jesus demonstrated, namely the Christ consciousness. Jesus was a mystical teacher. His goal was not to give his students outer, intellectual knowledge that they could mindlessly repeat at an exam and get a diploma. His goal was to fundamentally transform their consciousness. The measure of Jesus’ success as a teacher is not to have a bunch of theologians who can present cleaver intellectual discourses on Christian doctrine. The measure of his success as a teacher is to what extent he can duplicate himself by taking students to the same level of Christhood. So how do you think Jesus himself rates his current success as a teacher based on the behavior of most Christians?

What does it take to follow Jesus? You have to take up your cross. This is a symbol for engaging in the path to Christhood whereby you realize that you are bearing a cross with four arms, meaning your four lower bodies. In each body there are dualistic elements, and your task is to systematically purify all four levels of your mind from the illusions of the fallen beings (remove the beam from your own eye). This requires you to deny yourself, meaning that you realize that you have a certain sense of self that is based on the illusions you currently have. This self cannot be perfected; it cannot become worthy to enter the kingdom no matter what you do in terms of observing an outer religion. This is the grand lie of the fallen beings.

The reality is that walking the path to Christhood means rising up through the spiral staircase of the 144 levels of consciousness. For each level, there is a self that must die. If you seek to save your life, meaning saving any of these lower selves, you will lose your spiritual life because you will not be able to join Jesus in the eternal life of the Christ consciousness. If you are willing to give up all of these lower selves in order to follow the example of Jesus, then you will indeed find the eternal life that is the Christ consciousness. The “only begotten Son of the Father” is not Jesus as an individual being but the Christ consciousness. No one comes into the kingdom of heaven (the ascended state) without putting on the wedding garment of the Christ consciousness. The Christ is, in its broadest sense, what allows us to come back to our original innocence after we have descended into duality and become lost.

Most of Jesus’ disciples had grasped the basic idea of letting the present self die in order to follow Jesus. Peter simply never got this point. You will see from the previous quote that Peter had a clear mental image of what should and should not happen to Jesus. When Jesus said he would suffer many humiliations from the authorities in Jerusalem, this did not fit in with Peter’s image. Ideally, Peter should have used this discrepancy to realize there was something wrong with his image and then begin to question it, eventually letting it die and rising to the next level of consciousness. Instead, Peter sought to save his “life” and even attempted to project his image upon Jesus, wanting Jesus to conform to his mental image. This was further demonstrated later by how Peter three times refused to identify himself as a follower of Jesus.

The consciousness that demands that the Living Christ should live up to its mental image is indeed the consciousness that Jesus called “Satan.” It is the hallmark of the fallen beings. They believe they own planet earth. They believe that the Living Christ has no right to be born here. If the Living Christ manages to be born anyway, then the fallen beings feel it is their right to demand that the Living Christ should live up to their mental image and not challenge it. The Living Christ should conform to the current conditions on earth, including the density of matter.

So much of what Jesus did or said, including the miracles, was aimed at challenging the collective mental image that matter is so dense that there are certain limitations we cannot escape. Jesus wanted to set people free from this illusion and help them see that the current density of matter is a product of the collective consciousness. By raising the collective consciousness, we will make matter less dense. Thus, with men (with the current level of consciousness) many things are indeed impossible. But with God (with the Christ consciousness) all things are possible.

Take note of a subtle distinction. If you look at official Christian churches today, what is the main thing they are telling their followers? It is to believe, to have faith. Look at how Christian churches are telling people to have faith despite the challenges of materialism and rationality. Yet Jesus never, ever used the words faith and belief. I know you can find examples in the scriptures that say differently, such as when Jesus asked a man if he believed Jesus had the power to heal him or told people that it was their faith that made them whole. Yet these are deliberate distortions by the fallen beings.

Jesus never told anyone to follow him out of faith. He wanted his disciples to know based on their intuitive confirmations. He did not ask people: “Do you believe I have the power to heal you?” Instead, he asked: “Do you know I have the power to heal you?” If they merely believed, they would not be healed. If they had used intuition and knew (based on a recognition of the light in Jesus), they would indeed be healed.

Belief is wishful thinking. It is having a mental image of how you want the universe to work and then hoping that God or Jesus will force the universe to work according to your image. This will never, ever happen. God has given us free will, and we have used it to get ourselves into duality. God has then given us the Christ consciousness to help us get out of duality. If we reject this and refuse to let our dualistic selves die in order to follow Christ, then there is nothing more God or Jesus can do. We must continue in the School of Hard Knocks until we have had enough of the outer knocks and become open to inner direction.

It is the fallen beings who want you to believe in what they say and have faith that they can take you to heaven. The ascended masters want you to use your intuitive faculties to know from within through a direct experience.

I need to add here an extremely important distinction. If you look at the disciples of Jesus, you will see that they all had some intuitive insight (which later led to conflict between them). If you look at today’s Christians, you will see many who claim they have had inner experiences that confirmed the validity of the Bible as the Word of God or Jesus as the only road to salvation. You can also find all kinds of spiritual people who say they have had intuitive confirmation that their guru or their teachings is the only true one or the key to a golden age on earth. Each of these people is equally sure that their intuitive experience was valid and therefore showed them an absolute truth. Obviously, since their outer claims are contradictory, they cannot all be right, and this has given a free ride for sceptics and materialists to deny the value of intuition. So what gives?

The simple key to resolving this enigma and the conflicts it creates is to realize that each person is, at any given time, at a specific level on the scale of the 144 levels of consciousness possible on earth. At any given level, you are capable of having an intuitive experience. However – and this is the key – this experience can only show you the next level of consciousness up from where you are. It will not show you some ultimate truth.

In order to correctly use your intuitive faculties, you have to understand what I will call the “Peter Conundrum.” The fallen beings are very clever, and they know that they cannot prevent all people from having intuitive insights. Instead, they seek to make sure that your first intuitive experience becomes your last. They do this by spreading the subtle attitude that your intuitive insights should be interpreted within your current belief system. For example, if you are a Christian, an intuitive experience should be interpreted within the Christian system, meaning your experience will seemingly validate your system. There are many atheists who have had genuine intuitive insights and have interpreted them as proof that all religion is false (all religions on earth are false, but that doesn’t mean there is no spiritual reality beyond the material universe).

The mechanism here is simple. You are having an intuitive experience that is one step above your current level of consciousness. Because of this, the experience seems very real to you. It is the contact with a higher level of consciousness that gives you this sense of reality—not any kind of interpretation that the four levels of your mind project upon the experience. The challenge of having an intuitive experience is to avoid doing what Peter did to Jesus, namely to take the sense of reality and transfer it to your outer beliefs. When you do this, you solidify your current level of consciousness.

The intuitive experience is given in order to give you a frame of reference that allows you to realize that your current level of consciousness is not the highest possible and that your current self must die so you can go higher. When you misuse the sense of reality of the experience, you refuse to follow Christ and therefore you become even more trapped in your current self. This is exactly what happened to Peter, as we will see. The bottom line is that an intuitive experience never gives you an absolute truth. It only gives you a lifeline that you can use to pull yourself up to the next level where you can see an even higher insight. Do not let the lifeline become the rope with which you hang yourself.
