In order to understand how and why human beings separated themselves from their teachers, we need to take a closer look at your total being. I will describe this in generic terms that apply to most of the beings who evolve on Earth. I have said that everything has an Alpha and an Omega aspect, and so does your own being. We might compare your total being to a figure-eight:

• The upper figure represents the spiritual side of your being, the part that permanently resides in the spiritual realm. This part contains the divine blueprint for your individuality, and it can never be destroyed by anything you do in the material world. It is an extension of an immortal spiritual being and the very basis for your sense of identity. It has been called the I AM Presence in several teachings given by the Ascended Host.

• The lower figure represents that part of your being which is designed to empower you to express yourself in the material world. This lower self has several parts which we will explore later. For now, the important point is that your lower being is centered around your sense of identity, meaning both the sense of who you are as a spiritual Being but also who you are as a being in the material universe.

Your spiritual self is a gift to you from the spiritual being who created you out of its own consciousness. This is your divine blueprint that you can never lose. In other words, no matter what you do in the material universe, you cannot destroy this divine blueprint because it exists in a spectrum of vibrations that is above – and thus cannot be affected by – the frequencies of the material universe. The important point here is that your original divine identity can never be lost. What can be lost is your connection to it and even your memory of it. As I have said, the learning process of a student has two aspects, but this truly applies to all beings in embodiment on Earth:

• The Alpha aspect is that you discover and fully embody your divine identity, so that you reach the point of enlightenment where you know and accept who you are as a spiritual being. You can then express your divine individuality in everything you do in the material world. You have become here below all that you are above. A new student does not have this enlightened self-awareness but starts out with a limited self-awareness as a separate being. It is the role of the teacher to guide the student to discover, accept and internalize its spiritual identity.

• The Omega aspect of the learning process is to build a sense of identity that serves as the platform for your co-creative efforts in the material world. In other words, you are meant to discover your Alpha identity, but you are meant to define your Omega identity. A new student starts out with a limited sense of who it is—both spiritually and materially. As it discovers more of its divine individuality and gains experiences with the material world, it gradually builds the sense of who it is as a spiritual being with the task of taking dominion over the material world and bringing God’s kingdom to Earth. At least, this is what will ideally happen.

The logical question now becomes who it is that builds this composite sense of identity? Where is your sense of identity centered? What is the You which decides who – and what – you are and who/what you are not? Understanding this is the central mystery of existence, the missing link between the material and the spiritual aspects of your Being. Unfortunately, an understanding of this has been missing from most spiritual and religious teachings on this planet. It has been determined by the Ascended Host that it is time to correct this lack, and Mother Mary’s book was the first step. I will build upon her revelations in this book.

As I explained earlier, everything in the world of form is created out of an interplay between the two basic polarities, namely the expanding force of the Father and the contracting force of the Mother. Yet a sustainable creation is only possible when these two polarities are held in a dynamic balance. And the element that is designed to create and maintain this balance is the element of the Son, the universal Christ mind.

In terms of the figure-eight of your being, the upper figure represents the Father polarity and the lower figure represents the Mother polarity. For you to reach enlightenment, take dominion over your own being and fulfill your role on Earth, you must balance – or unite – the two aspects. In the nexus of the figure-eight is that part of your being which represents the Son, the Christ that is meant to balance the upper and the lower aspects of your being. This part is what Mother Mary calls the Conscious You, but in this book I will call it the conscious self. You have free will, so you are not a robot or an animal. The meaning is that you have the ability to be aware that you exist, to know you are a spiritual being and to consciously choose to co-create on Earth. The very basis for this is that you have self-awareness, that you have the ability to know that you exist. You exist because there is a part of your being that was created by an immortal spiritual Being, and thus it is permanent. You can know you exist because you were created out of the Being and consciousness of the Creator, for without him was not anything made that was made. Thus, the Creator’s omnipresent self-awareness is embedded within your being. We might say that the basis for your self-awareness is your I AM Presence, which gives you the foundation for knowing, “I AM, I exist, I am alive, I have being.” Yet the part that actually comes to this recognition is your conscious self. It is the conscious self that says, “I am…” and then defines the characteristics for what comes after the words “I am.”

Your conscious self is the center of your total being. It is here you decide who you are, and it is here you decide how to express who you are in the material world. What is the basis for these decisions? It is your sense of identity, who you see yourself as being, what you put after those all-important words, “I AM …” What you define as your sense of identity determines how you co-create in the material world. Obviously, this has two aspects, namely to what degree you have discovered, accepted and internalized your divine individuality and what kind of material identity you have built for yourself. My point is that it is the conscious self who has the dual task of discovering your Alpha identity and building your Omega identity. The conscious self is the only begotten son of your higher being and it alone can know the Father, meaning your spiritual identity. It is the conscious self that decides who you are, and, as we will see later, every aspect of your life in the material universe is directly determined by your sense of identity. Thus, we might say that the conscious self is the core of your lower being, the very center of your sense of self. It is therefore essential that your conscious self becomes conscious of itself.

When a new co-creator is born – or when any student starts out in a cosmic schoolroom – it has a limited sense of self-awareness. It is essential to realize that this is not some kind of punishment or design flaw. On the contrary, the entire purpose of the world of form is to give self-conscious beings the experience of starting out with a limited self-awareness and then growing toward the full God consciousness. We might say that the Creator has chosen to focus part of its own self-awareness as the conscious self in order to experience the journey from that limited self-awareness back to the full God consciousness. However, this is not simply a journey from Allness to specialness and back to dissolution into the Allness. As the conscious self comes back to God consciousness, it will disappear back into the Creator’s Being but a new self is born based on the identity that the conscious self has built during its return. This identity does not disappear but becomes immortalized as a new God with full internalization of everything learned on the journey. The identity, the sense of self, of a co-creator is a God in the making.

It is also essential to realize that everything functions within the framework of the Law of Free Will. Thus, you were not simply created without any choice on your part. Your identity is actually not a separate entity but an extension of a spiritual being, namely the master who created you. When a master creates extensions of itself, it decides that it wants to send individual extensions of itself into the material universe, partly to experience the growth in self-awareness and partly to help bring light into this world. To facilitate this process, the master creates individual presences within its own Being, one of which is the I AM Presence of an individual co-creator. Yet even then, each I AM Presence had to make a conscious choice to send an extension of itself into the material universe. Only when this decision was made was the lower part of a co-creator created, and only then did the conscious self take up its place in the nexus of the figure-eight.

Your conscious self is an individualization of God’s Being, an individual spark of the greater flame of the Creator, that was given to you as a foundation for self-awareness. We might say that your conscious self is an extension of the Creator’s Being that is focused in a particular location in the world of form. Part of the purpose is to give you a spark of the Creator’s Being which you can build upon and multiply until you build a sense of identity that can become immortalized. Another part of the purpose is to give the Creator an opportunity to experience creation from the inside, from a particular point of view rather than from the all-encompassing viewpoint of the Creator. The Creator’s sense of self-awareness is omnipresent, meaning that the Creator is everywhere in creation and also aware of the Allness. Your conscious self is a part of the Creator’s Being that is focused in a particular point in creation, in your case the material universe and planet Earth. Yet because you are out of the Creator’s Being, you have the potential to expand your sense of self-awareness until you attain the omnipresent awareness of the Creator while still retaining the individuality you have created throughout your journey from one-pointedness to all-pointedness. I know it is very difficult for human beings – given their sense of self-awareness as separate beings – to fathom that the Creator can divide itself into separate spirit sparks and still remain the One, omnipresent Creator. Yet as you grow toward enlightenment, you will gradually experience how the One can divide itself infinitely and still remain the One.

The essential point is to realize that your conscious self is focused in a particular point but that it has the potential to expand its self-awareness infinitely. In other words, your conscious self has no fixed identity. It is given a starting point and is then charged with the task of building its own sense of identity from there. Thus, the conscious self is what it sees itself as being, it is what it identifies itself as being. You are who you think you are in the sense that you will co-create according to who you think you are.

I am quite aware that many of the people reading this will greet these ideas with mixed feelings. Many people have a limited sense of identity and feel they are stuck in situations that are not of their own making. Some even have mixed feelings about the fact that they exist at all. Yet the very essence of the spiritual path – the path to enlightenment – is to realize that if you don’t like who you are right now, you have the potential to change who you are by changing your sense of who you are. And as I will explain in coming chapters, once you change your sense of identity, your outer situation will change as well.
나는 『【이것을 읽는 많은 사람들】이 【착잡한 심정으로】 【이 개념들】에 반응을 보일 것이라는 것』을 잘 알고 있습니다. 【많은 사람들】은 ｛『【제한된 정체감】을 갖고 있고』 그리고 『【그들이 〔(그들 자신이 만든 것이 아닌) 상황〕에 갇혀 있다고】 느낍니다』｝. In other words, if you don’t like your current situation, you have the potential to change it by expanding your self-awareness. Your conscious self is who it thinks it is, but you can change that by changing who you think you are. If you don’t like being a human being with certain limitations, then expand your self-awareness and realize you are truly a spiritual being who is beyond all human limitations. You have simply chosen to focus your sense of self-awareness at this particular point as a human being on Earth. Yet you can expand that self-awareness and focus it somewhere else by following a systematic path toward enlightenment.

Let us take a closer look at choice. Your conscious self is an extension of your I AM Presence, which made the choice to extend itself into the material universe. And your I AM Presence is an individualization of a greater being which also made the choice to extend itself into the material universe. This being is an extension of a greater being, and if you follow the Chain of Being, you end up at the Creator. The Creator made the choice to create self-conscious extensions of its own Being. Thus, your very existence is based on choice and as an extension of the Creator, your conscious self did choose to come into the material universe in order to serve as the foundation for your growth. My point being that although your conscious self may currently see itself as a separate being, the reality is that you are part of the Body of God. You truly are that Body of God and your own greater Being did choose to focus part of itself as the conscious self that is currently identifying itself as you.

So a greater part of your own being did make the choice to enter the material universe. Yet even though we might say that you – as your current sense of identity – might not have consciously chosen to come into existence, you still have the potential to expand your sense of identity infinitely. In other words, there might be certain aspects of your current life experience that are unpleasant and cause you to feel like you would rather not be alive. Yet if you could remove those aspects, would you still regret being in existence? We might say that your self-awareness is a container and your life-experience is determined by what you put into it. So if you don’t like your life-experience, you have the option of changing the contents of the container of self. And once the contents give you a pleasant life experience, you will not regret having self-awareness.

My experience as a spiritual teacher shows that there is no self-conscious being who ever regrets being alive, being self-aware, once it overcomes its limited sense of identity. There may be certain aspects of a person’s life-experience that cause negative feelings, yet once these are gone, the person connects to its own higher being and now realizes that it did make the choice to focus itself as an individual being in the material world. Thus, by reconnecting to your own higher being and the choices it made out of love, you can overcome all sense of regret or anger over being in your current situation. And by reconnecting to who you truly are, your outer circumstances will change as if by magic. Yet as we will see later, there is no magic, for it is a fact that your outer circumstances are a mere reflection of your sense of identity, and thus when you change the cause, the effect will automatically follow. It is, of course, the function of every true spiritual teacher to help the students transcend their limited sense of identity and reconnect to their own greater beings.

Let me also make it clear that you were created with a predefined divine identity as the foundation for your growth in self-awareness. When you are in embodiment, it is your task to express that identity in the material universe, and in order to do so, you must first connect to it. You must, so to speak, bring your Omega identity – what you have created since you entered this world – into alignment with your Alpha identity so you can be here below all that you are above. For some people this might sound like they are being forced to be something they don’t want to be. Yet the reality is that before you came into this world, your own higher being did indeed want to express its individuality in this world. As you lost the connection to your higher being, you forgot this purpose and the choice made by your higher being. Yet you have a subconscious memory of this, and you will never feel truly fulfilled until you are living your reason for being. Thus, coming into alignment with your own higher being is not something that is forced upon you. It is what you truly want and it is the key to your wholeness and fulfillment in life.
